Telecom Critical Knowledge Taxonomy

In Business Level Strategy approach firm should identify Key Process, Core Process and Common Process that have to be compare to competitor’s ones. Telecom industry has eTOM (Enhanced Telecom Operation Map) with stream process and key process used to create “Telecom Critical Knowledge Taxonomy” as differentiation key to win business competition. Knowlege Creation as firm’s capacity to create new knowledge, acquire, share, use and embody it to product, service and system need ba (shared context) in 4th level and 5th level of eTOM Processes with SECI model in Corporate’s Knowledge Asset. Organization competitive advantage’s value, rarity, imitability and organization deal with eTOM key process domain can be organized in continuous spiral activity from individual, group and organization knowledge creation.

eTOM Critical Knowledge Taxonomy

eTOM Critical Knowledge Taxonomy can be positioned as “Knowledge Based Layer” as a shadow of “Business System Layer” combined with “Project System Layer” in Hypertext Organization where knowledge content are combined more flexibly across layer and overtime. Organizational Knowledge Creation flow naturally from Hypertext organization, since each structure generates and accumulates new knowledge differently with deadline project and more concentrated resource and energy. Differentiation area between hypertext and competitor at 4th Level and 5th Level of eTOM Processes as a result knowledge creation with shared context deal with problems and suggestion in dynamic competitive flows caused rarely and inimitable innovative product, service, system appropriately faster than competitors.

eTOM Operation Process Pattern

eTOM has three standard processes level for mapping “what should we do” in telecom business process approach and decompose third level to specific enterprise’s activities in fourth level”. We can create appropriate SOPs with third level before decomposing it into fourth level as staff’s activities or tasks and fifth level deal with specific tools, resources and IT’s. Each area of eTOM processes such of Strategic (SIP), Operations (OFAB) and Enterprise Management have their own generic pattern for custom mandatory third level processes form implemented one in real OSS’s field.

eTOM Process Pattern

Generic Pattern for Problem Report & Resolution are Create, Analyse, Fix and Close with Track & Manage and Report running continuously. Strategy & Commit’s pattern consist of Research, Strategy, Business Plan, Operational Support, Partnership and Commit. Order’s pattern consist of Create Order, Closure with Track & Manage and Report run continuously. Product life cycle’s pattern consist of Research, Development, and Retirement. Other third level eTOM Processes can be added appropriately as mandatory element of decided stream process agreed in first level with KPIs of Enterprises Business Strategy.

Knowledge Management is any structured activities that can improve organizational capacity to acquire/create, sharing/use knowledge that can improve the organizations process to survive, Grow and sustain.

Knowledge has enter the new revolution and transformation and affect human society and made knowledge the essential resources rather than other basic “factor of production”. Without other factors , knowledge can not produce and perform. But with knowledge we can produce effective management, apply knowledge to knowledge and always obtain the others resources. Supplying knowledge to find out how existing knowledge can best be applied to reproduce result is, in effect, what we mean by management. By knowledge is now also being applied systematically and purposefully to define what new knowledge needed, whether it is feasible, and what has to be done to make knowledge effective. It is being applied in other words to systematic innovation. Sustainable Competitive Advantage’s Company have more knowledge as intangible assets that tangible assets such as value of Enterprise’s knowledge workers are too expensive than buildings, computers and other physically tangible objects.
